I distinctly remember having cried on my first day at a primary school. My mother brought me to school, handed me over to a teacher and was told to leave. She was not allowed to accompany me, even she was not allowed to stand near the window. It really made me worried.
Almost immediately after my mother left, I started to cry. Then the guy sitting beside me followed suit and soon a few of the children in the class were in tears. The teacher was not to be compromised. She was obviously an old hand at handling cry babies. She knew exactly what to do. She ignore us. Soon, we realized that we were not going to get our mothers back. So, we settled down to some serious coloring.
We were very happy about one thing though we all could speak to the teacher freely. Besides, we spend the whole day coloring. And the happiest day was when I had a break. My mother was there with food.
At the end of the day we had colored no less than ten pictures. We brought them home to show our parents.

How do We Get Energy from Water?
From high in the hills, water flows down in rivers and falls its way to the sea. This mass of movement can be used to generate energy to work a machine, with the water falling on the blades of the wheel, making it turn. This wheel is connected to a machine like a mill wheel, grinding corn.
In ancient times, the use of hydraulic or water energy was not used very much. But from the Middle Ages onwards, it increased as well as grinding cereals, it went on to weaving, paper making, metal-working and so on.
Then came the discovery of electricity and water came to be used to produce electrical energy in hydro-electric stations. Dams were built to create artificial lakes from which water fell on the turbines os a station at the foot of a dam.
Like the old water mills, when then water makes the turbines turn, they set the generator working which produces the electricity.
23. The purpose of the text is…..
A. to explain the use of water for ancient people.
B. to explain how people use water to produce energy..

To improve comport and cleanliness at our school, a number of dustbins should be increased.
When we look at classrooms, school corridors and schoolyard, there are papers, mineral water cup, straws, and napkins here and there. The condition of uncleanness and discomfort really hinders learning and teaching environment. Litters thrown carelessly cause disease, especially empty plastic cups or glasses. They can be filled out with water coming from the rain. This can be placed for dengue mosquitoes to spread out. Besides, these rubbish can deteriorate the scene. Well painted wall and green school yard do not mean anything if litters are scattered everywhere.
Anyway I notice that most of the students in our school have responsibilities for their school environment. They put their litters on the proper places. But some are not diligent enough to find the dustbins. The number of dustbins in our school are not enough. More dustbins should be put beside each of steps, outside of the classroom, and some more along the corridors. Probably one dustbin should be in every ten meters. So when students want to throw away their litter, they can find dustbins easily.
When school is equipped with sufficient dustbins, we do not have problems of filth and discomfort any more. Our school will be very clean and become a nice place to study.
27. What is the writer’s intention? To …….readers to do something good.
A. inform
B. explain
C. describe
D. entertain
E. persuade..
28. What is the writer’s argument on a sufficient number of a dustbins?
A. They can prevent litters.
B. They can save janitor’s energy.
C. Students are asked to clean them.
D. They make school environment neat.
E. Students can throw garbage away easily..
29. What is the writer’s suggestion?
A. To buy more dustbins..
B. To hire more gardeners.
C. To use dustbins efficiently.
D. To ask parents to give more dustbins.
E. To ask students to clean the schoolyard.
